Saferrah-Senior-Outdoor-Portrait-Session - Sergey Bidun

If you’re looking for urban-style high school senior portraits or college grad portraits, but don’t want your photos taken on campus, downtown Sacramento is a great place to have your session. With so many impressive buildings, textured walls, Capitol Park, and beautiful alleys - there are many possibilities for graduates with every taste. The downtown Sacramento area is a popular photography spot, but the good thing is that there's room for everyone. This location is ideal for modern senior portraits and for people who are after urban-style pictures.

Downtown Sacramento is a top pick location for high school seniors and college grad photo sessions. There are so many options for creative lifestyle portraits that both female and male seniors often choose this location. It's one of the best urban photography locations in the Sacramento area.

Some may not know that for many people, the senior portrait is the first professional photo many young adults will ever have taken. Documenting this huge milestone in a person's life is very crucial. It's a way for the photographer to show an individual's inner beauty with their authentic images. Senior portrait photography is very special, as the photographer documents your significant life milestones and preserves your youthful essence in an amber glam shot. Bidun Studio Photography aims to provide an exceptional senior photography experience to all of our high school seniors and college grads.

Downtown Sacramento has come a long way in the last decade and has so many options for gorgeous photo backdrops. With every turn that you take, you will find a new treasure, a new beautiful, or exciting setting. From beautiful greenery and trees at the State Capitol park to the Rose Garden, to the unique buildings on the streets of Downtown Sacramento, there’s a wide variety of impressive backdrops. Photographers and creatives love this location for the many possibilities they have to work with.

Being the capital city of California, Sacramento has a lot of tourists visiting all the time. One of the most famous places everyone wants to visit is downtown Sacramento and especially around the Capitol building and the park that's by it. This location is the most populated during the weekends, so I would suggest coming here during the weekdays when there are fewer people and also easier to find a parking spot.

On that note, I should share a little suggestion from my own experience. It might be a good idea to get an Uber or Lyft ride to get to Downtown, instead of taking your own car. This may save you a lot of time that you otherwise would have spent on driving around looking for a parking space and walking to and from it. But if you are coming out here for the rest of the evening and don't mind the extra walking, then it's really up to you.

Downtown Sacramento is the location we settled on for Saferrah’s senior portrait photography, and it worked so well with her outfits and accessories. She came very prepared and was eager to start her most exciting photoshoot yet!

We started the senior portrait session by taking some portraits around the California State Capitol building. As she got more used to the camera and the Sacramento photographer, we went for more artistic photos - experimenting with different lighting, outfits, props, and poses. She was so easy to guide and photograph, following all of my directions and being super creative with her ideas as well.

We walked around the streets of Downtown Sacramento, stopped by the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, to take some portraits with the greenery in the front of the hotel. Made a quick stop at Chicory Coffee & Tea to get a refreshing and reenergizing drink to continue with a senior photography session. The two-hour senior photo session went by very quickly, and the sun started to set down.

I really like taking portraits with dramatic lighting, and during this session, an opportunity came up with the last minutes of sunset. We managed to get a couple of pictures with direct light on Saferrah's face, and I just loved the contrast that it made. You can find that image in the gallery below. After taking the last couple of portraits, I felt confident that I had captured enough gorgeous senior pictures for Saferrah to choose from.
